First off, Happy Holidays to both you, MnM, and the other posters.
Looks like I got it close at the end. Denise went fourth, and I had the final 3 right. Didn’t see a Todd win though. I didn’t even see COurtney making it close, and getting the votes she did.
That said, I’m impressed with some of her answers to the jury questions. SHe just needs to learn how to….filter some comments though.
Amanda…tried to play it nice and sweet. Nothing happening there.
Todd….Courtney said it best. He wears his dirty laundry on his sleeve. He did deserve to win.
Well I’m looking forward to next season. I knew it was going to be an all-star season, but I didn;t realize it would have regular fans too. Interesting.
From what I hear and have seen, there will be more than one from this Survivor season joining. One’s obvious, the other is not (until it’s fully confirmed, I won’t spoil).

Did not see Todd winning — as I posted last episode, I thought he had too much baggage. I suspect the jury saw Amanda as a coattail rider behind Todd, even though she tried to point out her own coup successes, talking about how voting out James was her idea (and was a tremendous risk to boot).
I really didn’t see Courtney attracting any votes, but she pulled down two. If anybody’s in need of the Shut Up Button, it would have been Courtney, right before she made the comment about how Denise “sucks at life”. That may be true, but there’s no need to say it, especially not with a camera in your face, and especially not when the target will be watching in a few weeks.
Speaking of Denise … the award for villain of the season goes to the $*^#%!*@ school district that fired her as lunch lady and moved her to late-shift janitor. I’m glad Denise announced what had happened on the reunion show, and I hope they are on the receiving end of lots of well-deserved email outrage this morning. The $50K award from Mark Burnett was nice, but he really should have offered Denise a job as his new apprentice … 8^)
Hey guys! Happy holidays to all out there in Survivor-land. My husband and I saved the reunion show on our DVR trying to pick out who looks most like they spent another 39 days eating worms and rotted rice in Micronesia. Our pick so far is Aaron (isn’t he the surfer guy who got voted out at Zhan Hu after the switch?). If I didn’t get the name right, you know who I mean. Anyone who has another opinion, I’m happy to take a look.
Boy, I hope Amanda never gets a job as a salesperson. That girl cannot close. Maybe SHE should be the one dating a virgin. No pressure there for the Ethan Zohn-wannabe. Yowsa. That was the worst performance at a tribal council since Becky 2 seasons ago. Thank God PG finally said what I had been shouting at my TV: enough with those puppy dog eyes!!! You voted these people out, they’ve had days and days together to plot how they’re going to skewer you and you play some sort of sympathy-eyes card? I thought she was a strong player right up until the time she opened her mouth and started apologizing for voting people out. Hello, this is a game where that happens! She is not too bright I’m afraid.
The one who really surprised us was Courtney. Wow, for a while there I thought she was going to walk away with the thing (which either shows great editing or that I’m about as bright as Amanda, I’m not sure). She had JR’s vote until Todd stole it away. For a while I thought PG might vote for her too. Can’t remember right now without my morning Diet Coke whose vote they showed on air for her but she got more than I expected. If only she had played so well during the game as she did during the final TC we might have finally had a female winner for the first time in forever.
Congrats to Todd and his Denise-inspired mullet. He surely deserved it for embracing the game and convincing the jury that turning them into suckers is a good thing.
I wonder what would have happened if it had been a tie? I wish Jeff would have addressed that instead of asking Erik if he was still a virgin. Ick.

Ditto Kazza on Amanda. HORRIBLE at TC. She remained under the radar, far too laid back. MAKE YOUR CASE, GIRL. Todd makes his case perfectly. Courtney makes NO case but that’s what we expect from Courtney - vacuous condescension and that bubblehead “well whatever happens happens” attitude.
This Survivor does have a first!
This is the FIRST time that someone won on the basis of nothing else than the final tribal council.
Michael, I did NOT pick Amanda because of her looks. I don’t even really like her looks. I picked her because she played the most even overall game and I figured people would see that.
I believe that she had the votes going into Tribal. However, as has been said, she couldn’t close. Todd, however, CAN close. Geez, even Courtney did a better job at Tribal!
Congrats to Todd. For the first time the Final Tribal Council actually meant something. You convinced them all that you should win.
I still think it was a shitty season. Barring the locale, of course. That was nice.

it was an ok ending although i was really rooting for Amanda to take it all, at least Courtney didn’t win. I have a question, do you guys do a big brother podcast?? it’s coming back in February (yay)

Press Release: Mrs. Denise Martin

On the “Survivor China” television program that aired on December 16, 2007, Mrs. Denise Martin, an employee of the Douglas Public Schools, stated that she was demoted from her position as a cafeteria worker upon her return from taping the show. This statement is false. In fact, Mrs. Martin held a full-time position as a custodian prior to her participation in the series, and she returned to this same position upon her return from China. Mrs. Martin was granted - at her request - an unpaid leave of absence so that she could participate in the “Survivor” program. We were pleased and excited to support Denise, and have enthusiastically cheered her on throughout the duration of the show.
Although Mrs. Martin was a cafeteria employee prior to her selection as a contestant, she asked to be considered for a promotion to full-time custodian, and was promoted to this position on March 30, 2007. This promotion came with additional benefits and a higher salary. Following her leave, she then returned to this same position.
Regretfully, the Douglas Public School District was inaccurately portrayed as failing to be accommodating to an employee during what the District viewed as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. This is far from the case. On the contrary, we granted all requests made by Mrs. Martin so that she could participate in the “Survivor” series. Since Mrs. Martin was on an approved leave, her position was held open for her, and she returned to this same position upon her return from China. As a District, we make every effort to support our employees, and will continue to do so.

Great season for Armchair Survivor, you’ve gained another fan.
I really like this season of Survivor. Great characters, challenges (I hate the food challenge and miss the car challenge), unpredictability, sexappeal, and of course, Jeff Probst. It had the whole package.
I’m afraid the next season looks iffy, but I’ll be there on opening night and listening to M&M the next day.
Something seemed off in that finale, but I don’t know what.
Also I’m disappointed that no one brought up Courtney’s “Oscar” comment towards Todd. Hrm….
Amanda made a MILLION dollar mistake by voting Denise out. NONE OF THEM could win against Todd. I thought for sure she would get of him. But she was stupid and voted out Denise. She made EVERY decision right for the entire game until the end. She deserved to lose with that TERRIBLE play and then her TERRIBLE Final Tribal Council behavior. You can’t play the “pity” factor to a bunch of people you just voted out. Sheesh.
Congrats to Todd for playing everyone INCLUDING Amanda at the very end.
At least Courtney KNOWS that she is a bitch. She admitted on the show and even commented on how terrible her own personality is as well. Good for her. It’s her one redeeming quality: self-awareness. Heck, she even got votes from people she hated by being honest about her own “bitchiness.” (Denise and Peih-Gee voted for her. Terrible votes.) But Courtney is so full of self-loathing it’s actually quite sad. It’s also a part of why she takes bad care of herself physically. I would suggest some counseling for her immediately.
I disagree with Mike in that I thought Amanda looked great at the Reunion, but I do agree with Mike in that she was the one contestant that seemed to get BETTER LOOKING as the 39 days wore on. Interesting.

I first wanted to state that I first started listening to this podcast because I heard about it on the Feast of Fools podcast after Mike appeared on in it. I really enjoy watching the show and listening to the podcast is a great companion to it. The way that you interact is fun and great to observe and you bring up a lot of good topics about the show. Thank you so much!
Okay, down to business. I can’t get over the fact why Todd was wearing a mullet. As I made a comment last night after watching the show, he should know better because he seems young and fashionable, especially if he is a flight attendant (funny he played the flight attendant on this past Thursday’s show when they flew to their reward on the Great Wall!). Maybe he was purposely trying to look like Denise for some kind of sympathy or something. Who knows what his motives were.

First thoughts (before listening to M&M).
I knew Todd should win, and he did win because he played the “outplay/outwit/outlast” part the best and he was honest about it at the end. His statement and his answers were very reminiscent of Dr Will Kirby in Season 2 of Big Brother. They both admitted lying but it is all part of the game.
Amanda tried to take a high road that was covered in mud. You can’t say you didn’t lie when you DID say you wouldn’t write her name on the ballot - she could have had Denise’s vote if she had written Courtney on that last tribal council. Love Peih Gee for calling it for what it all was - hogwash. After Todd, Peih Gee had the best head for this game.
And I loved James for his rockin attitude about the whole thing! He so totally deserved the $100,000.
After 16 seasons, how can any contestant NOT know about the show and what it is all about? I think Courtney was recruited for this show (and that stinks since so many folks try out and want to be there). Todd sounds more like he would be material for the SuperFans team - maybe his audition/interviews gave Mark Burnett the idea to have a SuperFan team?
Didn’t like the Denise sob story on Sunday night, and I’m hating it even more now.

Well…. from what he New York Post reported in their TV section today, Denise has apologized for lying. Wow. I knew something was up, and this tears it. I’m glad I never really rooted for her, and I was dissappointed. she tried to use a sob story to advance both her Survivor game (final four tribal council) and real life.

I totally thought of that too! I bet it is.
I’m disappointed in Denise - what was she trying to accomplish with her stunt? She could have really worked and taken advantage of this bit-of-fame paired with her (now gone) real-person appeal and tried for some endorsements, motivational speeches or guest appearances but now - nothing. What the heck??!!

It will probably be Amanda, should be Peih Gee though, based off entertainment alone. Amanda is good looking but after one season of her chameleon like strategy and final tribal council meltdown, I don’t think I’d want to see that again. At least PG would keep things interesting. Oh well, I know most won’t agree but hey, one can hope.
As far as Denise is concerned, I feel she single handily prevented this season from going down as an all time great. Although it was good and I’m happy with the winner, she could have made things so much more interesting had she either tipped James off about the immunity thing (don’t know why she trusted the younger members of the alliance over him) or jumped over to the other side at least once to make it past 4th. But oh well, too bad, so sad. And too much screen time was devoted to her at the reunion, so it’s funny how things have backfired on both her and MB. Hope I never have to see or hear from her again. GOOD RIDDANCE DENISE!!

I can’t believe Johnny Fairplay is going to be on the new season. Is is truly the only Surivor that I wish would be run over by a steam roller. But then again, he probably wants us to feel that on purpose. I wonder if his teeth have been fixed since Danny Bonaduchie (sp?) threw him over his shoulders? That was classic, Johnny got just what he deserved.
I actually just think I’m tired of Johnny Fairplay. He had his moment. For an another annoying male how about Shane, Judd, or Cao Boi!
For the women I’m not too fond of Eliza or Amanda. How about Twila (they could continue the battle between her and Ami) and Jennifer from Palau (a real hottie who did very well in the game, only to return and get stage 4 cancer, which she beat. It be a great story)!
